What a way to start the day. This is a 1 in 2200 student who came through the My YESA Passport system and I am proud to share it with you. It makes the past 185 days working on the system worthwhile and demonstrates the power of education over teaching.

RESPONSE : - If you have an interest in a field of study this helps tremendously. I was at a training course for micro-processors today (can’t mention any products) and I spoke with an electrical engineer. He had no idea what he was doing and has now completed the diploma (3 years) and will graduate next year. The point is that you need to make an informed decision on your career as it is not something that you can change because you do not like it. You will have to stick at it for a few years at least while you pay off your bursary and other commitments. My advice is that if you are interested in working in the weather industry then go for it as you have already made a very big decision. I commend you on your efforts so far and wish you all the best. QUESTION: -Sir. Thank you for the fast respones it meansalot. My next q is. If i send a camra in to a thunder storm, (camra will be making a video in negative) will we be able to see sprites and lightning easyer since the clouds will be light and lightning,sprites and rain darker?
RESPONSE : - Firstly it is possible to take a normal video and then convert it to a negative image afterwards using software. Secondly it is possible to send up a video camera into a storm using a helium balloon and hope that you will by chance capture a sprite(s). It may be a very interesting exercise but there is one small problem. Can you think of it? How are you going to get your camera back? You will have to place some form of tracking device together with a transmitter so that you can track the package and hopefully recover it (and the camera footage) once the balloon bursts at high altitude. Try speaking to someone from a local weather tracking company usually located at an airport. Who knows you may be able to test the concept by hitching a ride on the balloons they release on a daily basis. RESPONSE : - THIS IS GREAT NEWS. I am excited for your sake as this is real science in action and you are in the driving seat now. You need to start a diary and record everything that you do with this project no matter how small the details are. Secondly please let me know when the big even is likely to take place so that we can try and get the press there as well. I will try and be there as well but no promises. Thirdly, you MUST send this in as a Science Expo project and be sure to prepare your Research Question, Hypothesis, expected results, Research, etc. Maybe we can also publish a story on the YESA web site and share YOUR video on U-Tube.
