Gelvendale Primary 28 July 2011
On Thursday 28 July, YESA (Young Engineers and Scientists of Africa), came to our school (G.P.S). Thirteen grade 6 pupils, two grade 7 pupils and one grade 5 pupil were chosen to participate
in the activities they had prepared for us. We divided ourselves into groups of four.We had the team manager Aldene Holben, design engineer Victoria Simons ,construction engineer Kim-lynn and our media specialist Caitlin. We were given the task of designing and making a trophy for a sporting event. We chose to create a hockey trophy. During the process we learnt to work together as a team and how to design on a computer. We also learnt about modern technology and our self-esteem increased tremendously. We learnt to have fun but to stay focused at the same time.We want to thank the guys from YESA, especially Ron and Rihanna, for the amazing day they gave us.
