Gelvendale High – 26/08/11
Group 1
We as a group, had wonderful experiences today. We learnt how to use a new computer programme called Ubuntu. We struggled a bit but in the end our project was a success and we thoroughly enjoyed making something we had never made before. We also learnt how to use a 2-D laser cutter and made a desk tidy that tydies your desk. It was made in the liking of Port Elizabeth and has a holder looking like the Campanile, N.M.M.U Building and the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Our model greatly exceeded the other groups. The rest of the groups did not brush their teeth and their hair LOL!. We as the group were surprised to find out how much we learnt and how much fun we had with this programme. Group 2
In the beginning it was hard and quite slow. As we started to brainstorm things lightend up but didnt
get any easier. We as group were three to begin with and ended up being a two man duo. It may seem all fun and glory just two heads, but also a lot of hardwork. To be desing and creating something instead of destroying it was a wonderful experience. The fact that we were alone meant that we as a two man group had to pull our weight doing double the work in twice as little time. We butted head ,however we had the same idea in mind. Most of the time it was a learning experince,
not just that it was a adventure on it’s own.
The end resulted ended in the best result. so i stand story stands in triumpth. we come saw and conquered. With the sight and vision nothing can slip from your grasp. We started with a simple vision and ended with something much better.I would kindly like to do again with group and all.
Group 3
Today was kind of eye opening,because we have learnt a lot of things we never thought we were capable of doing,like putting our minds together as a group and creating/designing simple and effective objects from our imagination.It was realy fun participating in this programme and it was very inspirational.
In the beginning our task seemed impossible but after enough brain-storming we had a succesful end product.Todays programme realy taught us a life time lesson that making mistakes is a natural behaviour.All we need to do is learn from these mistakes and take note that no one is perfect and nothing is impossible(THE SKY IS THE LIMIT).We were fascinated by the technology we used.THE CHILDREN OF TODAY IS THE FUTURE OF TOMMOROW…a special thanks to Dr,Beyers from Gelvandale High……Shoneez,Shannon,Riyaaz,Ameer
Group 4
Todays experience was utterly splendid. We were quite imbued with team incorporation and innovative qualities. Having to think in such a short space of time was kind of stressful but through excessive brainstorming we pulled through. Such programmes should be extended to the rest of South Africa. The only part that could actually bug us was the usual clown or two. Not mentioning names. We were quite facinated by the laser printer and in fact aspire to become engineers so that we can make technologies to improve our country. We were exposed to high tech gear that we did not even expect to be a reality.
