LAWSON ROCKING THE FAB LAB!!!!!!!!!!`

At first the only reason why we agreed to participate in the Fab Lab activities, was so we could stay out of class and have some fun. When we got there we did not know what to expect, because MR Ron started lecturing about our useless education system, and we thought it was going to be a very long and excruciating day.

That is of cause our initial thoughts, but when we started getting hands on and started using our precious brains we actually started having fun. When we first got our tasks we thought it was going to be a ‘mission impossible’ (excuse the cliché) ,because building 3D objects using 2D cardboards was something we were yet to here of.At first we had a hard time deciding on what we were going to invent but thanks to Mbali our design engineer building an aeroplane was our winning idea. We, like all the other groups experienced some difficulties in turning our visions into reality even worst on a computer screen!!!but thanks to myself M.Tom we were finished in no time, and our aeroplane was ready for take off.So to the engineering world, WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!!!because there is a lot of talent right here at Lawson Brown High School AYOba!!!!!

THE FABLAB EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!
We had a wonderfull experience at the CSIR MOBILE FABLAB. We thank Dr Ron and CSIR to give us this experience. We would have never gotten this opportunity to be here today if it wasn’t for Dr Ron, the principal and the teachers who selected us to be here today. It’s a lesson we will take with us home and share with our family and friends. Dr Ron was a wounderful teacher and mentor. The technolgy that was used in the lab was more advanced than what we are normally used to. It was a good experience to work with new people and we received a closer view on how today’s technology work. OUR MESSAGE TO THE YOUTH IS IF YOU GET AN opportunity LIKE THIS PLEASE GRAB IT WITH BOTH HANDS.This day would not have been possible without Dr Ron,Miss Fortuin and my group members(AMANDA, MWILA AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST NOMTHA) so thank you for this once in a life time opportunity.

Today we all learnt about the importance of teamwork and communication. We were all split into groups of four and were put with people we don’t usually work with. So we learnt to do things together with other people. With the extrodinary help from our group, we accomplished more than we expected to. We struggled but with the help of uncle Ron we saw the light at the end of the tunnel. We thank the CSIR for this opportunity and for inviting us on their Fablab to learn about Science and Technology. We had an awesome day.Thank you guys for this great experience we will all make an effort to use this in daily life.Group members: Team L eader: Sheneigh, Design Engineer: Chermon, Construction Engineer: Danielle, Media Engineer: Chandra

As the lesson started we were all excited and a bit nervous as we didnt know what to expect. It was easy for us to divide ourselves into groups, but working together was the most challenging as we grouped ourselves as friends. The lecturer spoke to us about life and its challenges and told us that we are the future, he said that we should make the right choices in life and study hard to fufill our careers. The talk was a bit boring, but educational. As the lecturer was explaining us what to do we found it challenging, but with good encouragement we were ready for action. We must admit that we took three hours to come up with a theme, but we eventually came up with an idea.We decided to design a bird house. When we started,we thought it would be quite easy to put the idea into action. We designed it on paper first with all the correct parts and measurements. As we moved along we had to do the final design on the computer;this happened to be the most difficult part of the project. After much time of struggeling,we finally completed our final design. This has been a challenging yet an interesting experience.
