Kglolosego Intermediate School – 17-05-17

Clean Energy Education – Ventersdorp

The atmosphere at Kglolosego School was conducive to learning as the pupils appeared more relaxed and willing to learn. The school must have been built some time ago as the buildings were solid and positioned in the middle of the town.

Even though the request was made for 100 learners I was asked if more learners could attend. There must have been over 200 and despite this large number they were well behaved and showed a great deal of respect and hunger for knowledge.

Outdoor sessions convey a powerful message of clean energy especially if there is a light breeze. One of the learners raised the question of why there was a wire protruding from the base of the turbine. The main reason for this was that the opposite end of the wire had been drawn up into the tube as this had not been used for some time. I exposed the hidden wires and proceeded to connect them to an ammeter. At the same time I ask the learner to then rotate the turbine demonstration the principals of the apparatus in generating electricity from wind.
