Rauwane Sepeng Secondary, Rustenburg, 17 April 2018 (158 Learners)
The information regarding the demonstration had not filtered through to the school as the Principal appeared to be very surprised that I had pitched up. I explained to him the purpose of the visit and he decided that it was in the interest of the learners and was therefore important enough to disrupt the Grade 9 classes for an hour.
While waiting for the classroom to be prepared there was time to walk around and observe the huge pots being prepared for the school feeding scheme. Another observation was the low number of broken windows and obvious repairs to several windows.
Again it was an absolute pleasure to interact with the learners from this school as they were attentive and positive towards the material that was presented. The demonstration took place in a large classroom surrounding the main desk. This format appears to work work and will be used more frequently.
Having changed to format of the reversible Hydrogen Fuel Cell from the downward displacement of water in small containers it was decided to substitute the containers with two syringes. This was to ensure that the learners did not confuse the 2-3 mls of water in the electrolyser with the water in the container. This method worked well as each syringe clearly indicated the ratio of H2O as 2:1.
