Trinityhouse 11-08
I was not prepared for the meeting with David and Scott despite being a little late. It has been said that “Education is what is left after teaching has taken place” – Einstein. Well … I had heard that Trinityhouse had included the first challenge in the June exam where the results speak for themselves. In my opinion, David and Scott had “got out of the way of education” and allowed the learners to attain new heights which they had not anticipated. It is something that just cannot be taught.
The results included a wide range of options that were not confined by a restricting design brief or a limiting set of rules. The learners had arrived at the exam with all available technology from the rubbish bin and were allocated randomly into groups. They all learned far more from the experience than their teachers could ever have taught them.
David and Scott accepted the LEGO kit indicating that they would use it in their normal Physical Science classes as well. I challenged them to share the equipment with the Prep School as well as learners from disadvantaged communities. I am confident that we can look forward to some exciting work from this school in the future.
Handing over of LEGO equipment to David and Scott for Phase II of the project.
