Level 2

*Design Brief*	Design and build a solar powered vehicle that can be raced over a distance of 10m using 1) materials that are recyclable. PV panels, wire and electric motor OR 2) LEGO Energy Box which includes PV panel, wires and electric motor.
*Materials*	Any materials that can be found in the recycle bin.
*Other equipment*	Depending on the equipment that is available two possible alternatives will be considered.
*Poster presentation*	Teams have to prepare an A4 poster which will be used to convey the scientific principles used in the powering of their vehicle
*Rules*	– This is to be completed in pairs – The device must be designed and constructed at school under the guidance of a teacher who will supervise the distribution of the PV panels, wires and motors. – A 10 m track should be demarcated on a smooth surface for the race in a sunny area – Teams are allowed to practice on this demarcated track – Marks will be allocated to o the quality of the poster (Rubric assessment) o a brief presentation by the team (Rubric Assessment) o times for the race relative to the top team
